He declares war on the continent of Erilea.Īelin, along with Fae Prince Rowan, her cousin Aedion and her shape-shifter friend, Lysandra, travel to Terrasen so Aelin can reclaim her throne. Erawan is now strong enough to unleash the monsters he has been breeding. Elide now seeks Aelin to give her the second stone.Īelin defeated the king of Adarlan only to learn that a Valg prince possessed him and that the Valg king, Erawan, was in the body of Duke Perrington, the king’s adviser.

Erawan had two, but one was taken by Elide, a Terrasen noblewoman, who escaped slavery in Erawan’s fortress. The Valg seek the Wyrdstones, three objects that can open a Wyrdgate allowing the Valg to lead their armies between dimensions and take over Aelin’s world. When the king of Adarlan ordered the death of Aelin’s family, he was under the control of the Valg, monstrous creatures from another dimension. I gave it 2/5 stars.Nineteen-year-old Aelin Galathynius is sole heir to the throne of Terrasen. It was definitely not for me and fell into this category of YA fantasy that focuses more on the drama and romance than on the fantasy. And the magic system was, well, non existent.Īll in all, I’m I didn’t actually spent much money on this. The witchy stuff was all second plan compared to the romance and the drama and that was really disappointing. I felt sorry that her daughter was such an ass. She’s the only character I actually liked and somewhat felt for. Turns out the mother was actually the only one with any kind of depth and character. Then she meets a guy and she’s rude to him too. She was going on and on about how her mother is the worst and how she needs to be the witch. The main character was incredibly annoying, self centred and lacked any depth. The main character is this witch’s grand daughter who has been forbidden by her mother to take her place as the next Witch. The story takes place on an island where a sea witch helps whale hunters with all kinds of spells. A couple weeks ago I found it for 2£ in a shop, and so I just went ahead and got it.

I’d seen this book a while ago and had vaguely put it in my mental TBR but never thought much about it. So if you’ve followed me a little bit, you know I love stories about witches.
